AI video frame artifact review: Review representative frames and the full clip
An AI video frame artifact review combines temporal playback with close inspection. A contact sheet can reveal changed geometry, but it can miss a one-frame flash between sampled images. Normal playback can reveal flicker, but it may not show which detail caused it. Use both views for a defensible editorial decision.
Define defects that matter
Start with the intended subject and delivery context. A product demonstration may fail if a component changes shape, while an abstract background may tolerate transformations that would be unacceptable for a factual scene.
List relevant defect categories before reviewing: sudden illumination changes, inconsistent edges, duplicated limbs or objects, texture crawling, background seams, and discontinuities at clip boundaries. These are inspection categories, not claims about their frequency in any model.
Keep hard delivery failures separate from minor cosmetic notes. An artifact hidden beneath a planned overlay may have a different practical effect from one crossing the main subject.
Inspect at normal speed
Play the complete archived file at its intended viewing size and speed. Note timestamps where attention is pulled away from the action or where the image appears to jump.
Repeat only the suspicious interval, then inspect adjacent frames. A defect can begin before the frame where it becomes obvious. Save enough surrounding context for another reviewer to understand the transition.
Check the beginning and ending as well. If the clip will be trimmed, review both the source and the intended edit boundaries. A clean middle segment does not establish that the complete clip is ready to use.
Use representative frames carefully
Build a local contact sheet or select frames around important events. Include start, middle, end, and any intervals flagged during playback. Record the extraction times so the sheet remains traceable to the video.
Do not treat evenly spaced frames as complete evidence. Short flashes or deformations can fall between them. Conversely, a paused motion frame can look unusual while remaining unobtrusive at normal speed; judge its effect in context.
If the deliverable is a loop, inspect the transition from the final frame back to the first. That seam is a separate review condition and is not guaranteed by a prompt containing the word loop.
Acceptance record
Save the original video, representative frames, time-coded defect notes, planned crop or trim, and final decision. The gateway output URL is a retrieval reference; archive the actual file used for review so later investigators inspect the same bytes.
This procedure does not establish a benchmark result until real assets are reviewed. Report findings for the named brief and output rather than assigning an invented artifact rate to a model.
Continue with motion continuity testing, output download validation, and human rubric design when deciding which defects block delivery.
